Security Camera Shows Guram Sharadze Murderers
Having seen the recordings made by the insurance company Aldagi’s camera, the investigator in the Guram Sharadze case was able to prove that Giorgi Barateli did not kill Guram Sharadze.
Rusudan Sharadze, Guram Sharadze’s daughter, who saw the camera’s recording, noted that the physical appearance of the murderer recorded by the camera exactly corresponds to the description of the murderer provided by witnesses: at least 180 cm tall with athletic appearance.
Rusudan Sharadze stated in an interview with Georgian Times: “Giorgi Barateli did not kill Guram Sharadze. The insurance company Aldagi’s camera recorded the murder.
Guram Sharadze,a nationalist politician and former MP, was shot three times in downtown Tbilisi on May 20. Giorgi Barateli, , a friend of the Sharadze family, was arrested by police close to the scene of the crime, almost immediately after the killing. He is currently in custody, awaiting trial. Rusudan Sharadze says she is convinced that Giorgi Barateli has not killed her father. She has no doubts that this was a premeditated murder and Giorgi Barateli was arrested only as a scapegoat.
Rusudan Sharadze while interviewed by the Georgian Times stated “On July 3, together with the lawyers of our family, N.Nishnianidze and N.Birkaia I saw the images made by Aldagi camera. Due to these images I am convinced once again that Giorgi Baratei has not killed my father. We consulted with the lawyers and decided to get involved in investigation process. I know that Giorgi Barateli has not admited to the murder. He denies any involvement.”
The images give a full picture of process. Is the real killer visible?
Thought the shot is of low quality, it is clear that the killer is not Giorgi Barateli. The appearance of the murderer exactly corresponds to the description of witnesses. He is at least 180 cm tall with athletic appearance. He walks with an athletic stride. Barateli is no more than 160 cm tall and thin Unlike Barateli who is bald, the murder has a full head of hair.
Are there two killers identified on camera?
According to the events recorded on the camera, a car moving from the TSU towards Philharmonic stops unexpectedly. Someone gets out and leaves the door open. Another person who followed father on opens fire first and my father falls. The man who got off the car makes a control shot (to make sure the victim died). He disappears and then reappeared and makes a second control shot. Now he gets into the car but waits until a Patrol Police car arrives at the scene. Barateli is nowhere to be seen. Now three minutes have passed and patrol runs after the killer at the intersection of Janashia and Khorava streets. The killer rushes into a yard, and it seems he was replaced by Barateli there. Later the policemen detained Barateli near the round square.
They say that on that very day G.Sharadze had a conflict at National Library and lost his documents there.
I don’t know anything about that. However, I know that someone was watching him for several hours. I known that someone opened his handbag and it was near a stranger, but I cannot confirm that my father was killed for chocolates or for documents stolen from his bag. I think that the murder is connected with the repatriation of 400,000 Muslim Meskhetians. It is obvious that the murder was deliberately planned. My father was being watched for a long of time. The killers knew that on Sunday his driver had a day off. He liked walking on Melikishvili street and was returning home from National Library.
Why was personal revenge named as the motive of murder?
This information was deliberately disseminated. The investigators could not know from the very outset that the matter concerned revenge, or for that matter what Barateli’s motivation could have been. Thus we know that the information was prepared in advance.
You have declared that you decided to cooperate with the investigation after having seen the Aldagi camera images. Do you hope that investigation will be impartial?
I’ll avoid talking about it at least because of the personal attitude of the investigator. Though I am sure that he will under pressure, I don’t know how he will endure all this pressure. I decided to cooperate with the authorities because we have evidence from the Aldagi camera and with it we have a fighting chance.
